Mb-2 Koa Fretted Bass#1546. This Mb-2 bass features a semi-hollow one-piece alder body with a premium curly koa top, with the f-hole option sans binding. This particular koa is from stock that is over 50 years old, well seasoned and perfect for instrument making. This koa wood can appear as relatively subdued when viewed from certain angles, and intensely 3D from others. I left the binding off this one because the edge view of the koa is so nice. The 34” scale neck is made from eastern black walnut, and features tiny mandolin sized frets. The small frets make for easy playability and a very warm tone due to the fact that there is a minimal amount of metal in the string path. The La Bella 760n strings are coated with a black nylon outer wrap, which give a super smooth feel, and also protects from wearing the small frets. A deluxe quality gig bag is included which has a built in frame which adds rigidity and protection, while still being lightweight.
