Mb-2f Sycamore Fretted Bass #1506. This beautiful bass features a semi-hollow mahogany body, with a sycamore top and faux tortoiseshell binding. This particular sycamore wood is reclaimed, it was once a Los Angeles street tree! About 15 years ago I came into a large batch of wood that came from the urban forestry deptartment of LA, and this is from that material. The sycamore top is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer, it has a flat/satin (low) sheen to it that looks very natural on this piece of wood. The 34” scale neck is from mahogany, and features an aged Indian rosewood f.b. (20+ years old) with tiny mandolin sized frets. The small frets keep the amount of metal in the string path low, so the the tone stays full and round. The outer nylon wrap on the La Bella 760n strings cause virtually no wear to the frets. A locally made (in Los Angeles) custom form fit case is included.
