Deep 4 Koa Fretless Bass #1491. This Deep 4 features a semi-hollow alder body, with a beautiful understated koa top, and faux tortoiseshell binding. This particular wood has been seasoning for over 50 years, I have made many instruments from this exact material and it sounds fantastic, very alive and resonant. The 34” scale neck is made from 3 pieces of black walnut and two rosewood strips, with an unlined ebony fingerboard. When the fingerboard is unlined, it has no saw cuts in it for the guide lines. This slight difference can also add a small amount of resonance, which adds to the overall “alive” sound of this particular bass. A custom made form fit hardshell case, made locally in Los Angeles Ca. round out the package.
