Mb-2 Spalted Maple 4 String Fretless. This fine Mb-2 features a semi-hollow swamp ash body, with a spalted maple top, and cream ivoroid binding. I don’t make many basses with spalted maple due to the fact that they are very labor intensive. But I think this is one of the nicest ones I have ever made. This particular piece of wood has it all: beautiful color variation (with a look almost like stone in parts of it) some curly figure, and really nice minimalistic black streaks that remind me of electric current emanating from the bridge. The body back is finished in oil, and the spalted top is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer, with a very low sheen. The 34” scale lined fretless neck is from birdseye maple; this also is an exceptional piece in my opinion, it has just the right amount of birdseye figure throughout with really nice distribution. The fingerboard and bridge are from gaboon ebony, and the bass comes with a custom made from fit hardhsell case.
